Affiliations

Leeds Shinseido is a member of the Matsumura Shurite Kyokai, a small organisation whose purpose is to promote the practice of the martial tradition of the Matsumura family of Shuri, Okinawa. There are only 3 dojo (clubs) within the Matsumura Shurite Kyokai

• the main club (or hombu) in Sevenoaks, Kent,
• our club in Leeds, and
• the Uckfield club in East Sussex

The Matsumura Shurite Kyokai is a member body of the Okinawan Martial Arts Association, a body set up to promote Okinawan martial arts in the UK.

Leeds Shinseido is also affiliated to Ao Denkou Kai International, an organisation run by international seminar instructor Rick Clark 8th dan to promote sharing of knowledge between a range of like-minded martial art instructors. Core principles of the ADK include:

• the use of vital points in both grappling and striking
• cross-training in other arts to ensure a broad range of skills
• continual improvement for members at all levels

Mike is a also a member of Karate Jutsu International, founded by Terry Wingrove 9th dan Ju-jitsu, 7th dan Karate.

In addition to these formal links, Leeds Shinseido has informal links with several organisations with shared views on the need for practical rather than sport based martial arts, in particular:

• Kissaki Kai Karate - an international association run by Vince Morris 8th dan
• Hull Budo Kai - a group of Karate & Ju-jitsu clubs in the Hull area
